FAFSA 2024-25 Info – Click here for more information

For the 2024-25 academic year, the Federal Department of Education (DOE) has introduced a redesign to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The customary opening date of October 1 was postponed, and the new FAFSA finally opened on December 31, 2023.

The redesigned FAFSA form is the most significant redesign of the federal student aid application and delivery in decades, and will significantly simplify how students, parents, and other educational stakeholders use the FAFSA form. On January 30, 2024, the US Department of Education announced that there would be a delay in sending the submitted FAFSA information to colleges. The estimate new delivery date is mid-March. Once schools receive this data, it will take several weeks for schools to review, process, and formulate student aid packages in their system.

If everything stays on schedule from the Dept of Ed., FPU hopes to start sending financial aid award packages by mid-April.

For California Residents, the Cal Grant deadline has been moved from March 2nd to April 2nd and is the deadline to submit your FAFSA for Cal Grant eligibility. However, your school still must verify your GPA in the system by March 4, 2024 – please check with your guidance counselor to ensure it has been submitted.

For Traditional Undergraduate new students – the normal deposit refund date of May 1, has been pushed back to June 1. Enrollment and Housing deposits are fully refundable until June 1, 2024. After June 1, 2024 they are non-refundable.
