Tri-Alpha - First Generation
Alpha Alpha Alpha, also known as Tri-Alpha, is a national honor society for first-generation scholars. The Fresno Pacific University chapter of the Tri-Alpha National Honor Society was founded in 2022. This honor society is a way to celebrate the academic achievements of our first-generation students.
Eligibility:
Students who meet the following eligibility requirements will be invited for membership and for the induction ceremony in November or April:
Undergraduates:
- Enrolled full-time. Earned at least 30 units towards a baccalaureate degree (may include transfer credit).
- Achieved an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale Neither of the student's parents nor legal guardians completed a bachelor's degree.
- International students qualify as well!
Graduates:
- Full-time graduate students who are first-generation students can be admitted if they have completed at least one term of study (9 or more graduate credits) and have a GPA in their graduate program of at least 3.5.
- Faculty and Staff may be inducted as well. To qualify, they must have met the definition of a first-generation student listed above at the time they completed their bachelor's degree.
- Faculty and staff must be willing to serve as mentors for first-generation students.

Alpha Chi - Interdisciplinary
Alpha Chi is a national academic honor society open to traditional undergraduate juniors and seniors in all disciplines. Its purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students. FPU sponsors the California Zeta Chapter, one of 300 chapters
across the United States.Eligibility:
Candidates must have been a regular student in the electing institution not less than one academic year (24 units) at FPU (60 total) and be in the top 10 percent of their class. FPU Alpha Chi members regularly attend and give scholarly presentations at regional and national conventions. The chapter is designated a Star Chapter by the national association. There are scholarship and publication opportunities every year!

Kappa Mu Epsilon - Mathematics
The Mathematics Honor Society was founded in 1931 and introduced as a chapter at Fresno Pacific in 2015. Kappa Mu Epsilon has over 80,000 members and 150 chapters in 35 states. Their purpose is to promote further interest in math and help undergraduate students realize the importance of mathematics in civilization. Their goal is to have students continually grow in their appreciation of the precious beauty of math. In sum, they strive to spread the good news of math!
Eligibility:
- Students must have A 3.0 average in their math courses and completion of at least three semesters of college-level math.
- Student should have a recommendation from a professor.

Phi Alpha - Social Work
Phi Alpha's goal is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. It fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
Eligibility:
Undergraduates:
- For undergraduates, students shall be enrolled in the institution represented by the chapter, have declared a major in social work, have completed 9 semester hours of required social work courses and at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the degree; whichever is later achieved, and rank in the top 35% of their class.
Graduates:
- For graduates, students shall be enrolled in a graduate program in social work, have completed 9 semester hours of required social work graduate courses and at least 37.5% of the total hours/credits required for the graduate degree, whichever
is later achieved, and rank in the top 35% of their class.

Phi Alpha Theta - History
Established in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta is the national history honor society that aims to foster interest in the discipline of history and promote scholarly excellence in historical study. The Alpha Xi Zeta chapter at Fresno Pacific University is one of the 870 Phi Alpha Theta chapters located at universities across the United States. The student does not need to be a History major to apply.
Eligibility:
- Application is open to all undergraduate students who have earned a 3.1 GPA in 12 or more hours of history courses and have a 3.0 GPA overall in their undergraduate studies at Fresno Pacific University.
- Graduate students should have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours towards their Master's Degree in History, have a GPA of better than 3.5, and shall have completed approximately 30% of your institutes or programs requirement for the Master's Degree.

Pi Gamma Mu - Social Science
Pi Gamma Mu was founded in 1924. This is the oldest and preeminent interdisciplinary social science honor society. There are currently around 150 active chapters. Pi Gamma Mu appreciates the scientific study of humans' societies and social relationships. Some disciplinary examples include: anthropology, criminal justice, economics, geography- human gerontology, history, history education, human services, international relations, political science, psychology, social philosophy, sociology and social work.
Eligibility:
Undergraduates:
- 37.5% TOTAL HOURS/CREDITS
- 20 hours/credits in social sciences.
- Average of a letter grade "B" and above in Social Sciences to qualify for membership.
- Top 35%.
Graduates:
- Nine graduate hours in social science work, minimum of a "B" grade average.
- Faculty or Professional Studies Staff members.
- Any member with a Pi Gamma Mu chapter
- Alumni
- They can still continue to contribute to the society

Theta Alpha Kappa - Biblical Studies
This Biblical Studies Honor society recognizes students’ achievements in religious studies and theology. Theta Alpha Kappa was founded in 1976 in the Bronx. It now has more than 350 chapters around the country.
- Theta Alpha Kappa offers scholarship awards including the undergrad achievement award where each chapter get $100 every other year for the student nominee.
- The Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa offers annual prizes and publishes outstanding student papers.
Eligibility:
Undergraduates:
- For undergraduates, students must have a 3.5 GPA in at least 12 semester credit hours (18 quarter credit hours). They must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and ranked within the top 35%.
Graduates:
- For graduates, students must have completed at least 50% of credit house in their religious studies or theology program with a 3.0 GPA.
