The AIMS Center for Math and Science Education unveiled its newly remodeled facility with a ceremony and open house February 5, 2016.
Among the area leaders celebrating the million-dollar expansion of the 10,000-square-foot center were U.S. Congressman Jim Costa; Paul Caprioglio, president, Fresno City Council; Sal Quintero, member, Fresno City Council; Larry Powell, former Fresno County superintendent of schools; Joe A. Hernandez, superintendent of Dinuba Unified School District; and FPU President Richard Kriegbaum, Ph.D. Work began on the project in February 2015. The colorful, open concept design is welcoming, modern and inviting.
The AIMS Center, supported by the AIMS Education Foundation, is dedicated to making research accessible to teachers so they can inspire students in new ways. Now an independent nonprofit agency, the AIMS Education Foundation grew out of the FPU math and science program and is located on the main university campus at the intersection of Chestnut and Butler avenues in Fresno.
