Saturday, April 7, 2007 - Fresno, Calif. Harold & Betty Haak Tennis Center Fresno - The Sunbirds, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA poll, nearly pitched a shutout this afternoon at the Harold and Betty Haak Tennis Center. The Sunbirds needed just 90 minutes to sweep The Master's College Mustangs 9-0 in a Golden State Athletic Conference match. The Sunbirds won all six singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. The only non-shutout on the FPU scoreboard was an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. The win pushes the Sunbirds record to 18-0 overall and 8-0 in GSAC play. FPU will take a break from conference play on Friday when they travel to Claremont to take on the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. CMS is currently ranked No. 11 in the NCAA Division III poll. It will be the first meeting of the two schools. Updated Records |
