No. 2 Sunbirds defeat Banana Slugs 9-0

Santa Cruz - The Sunbird women's tennis team swept the Banana Slugs today in Santa Cruz 9-0. The win gives them the momentum they need as they take over a week break and then take on UC Santa Barbara. 

"It was a great win," said head coach Neil Castro. "This is the win we needed. We are taking on a tough opponent (UCSB). After our break we have to continue to get back to work."

The Sunbirds flew by with little incident today. The toughest match coming in the 5th spot with Amadine Ferot defeating Chayla Furlong 6-3, 7-5.

Sunbirds take a week long break and return to action Tuesday, March 13th when they travel down to Santa Barbara to take on the Gauchos. Match kicks off at 1:00 pm.
