Wednesday, February 7, 2007 - La Jolla, CA Box Score FPU's jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play and won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. FPU's only difficulty came, surprisingly, at No. 3. Anna Karavayeva won the first set easily (6-1), then lost the concentration and the second set 7-5 and eventually the tie-break 10-5. "It was a good trip for us, said FPU head coach Neil Castro. "We played a couple of good teams. I hope that gets us ready for Saturday. Point Loma is a good team. I don't understand why they are not ranked. FPU improved to 5-0 on the season. Four of the five wins, including today's have come against NCAA opponents. The Sunbirds return to Golden State Athletic Conference action on Saturday when they host Point Loma Nazarene. Records |
