Sunbirds sweep Cal State Fullerton 7-0

Fullerton - The FPU women's tennis team extended its season-long win streak to nine matches this afternoon in Fullerton. The Sunbirds swept the host Titans of NCAA Division I member Cal State Fullerton 7-0.

Jelena Pandzic and Audrey Laib defeated Gina Le and Mai-Ly 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Anna Karavayeva and Angelina Minova defeated Shelly Injejikan and Cheyenne Inglis 8-1 at No. 2, while Megan Hanner and Amandine Ferot defeated Jerusha Cruz and Katrina Domela 8-5.

The Sunbirds dominated singles play with straight-set wins at No. 1-5. Only Megan Hanner needed the extra set to pull out the win. Hanner defeated Brandy Andrews 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 to complete the sweep.

"I am real pleased," said FPU head coach Neil Castro. "We had a good effort today. All three of our doubles teams played well and that extended to singles play."
 
The Sunbirds return to Golden State Athletic Conference action this Saturday when they host Biola University. Match-time at the Special Events Center is 2:00 PM
